Registration & licensing of stocked fisheries
The licence for Parkhill Fishery applied for to 31 December 2010 has been received.
On-line catch returns system
The new system has been developed & tested by Committee members & comments have been favourable. It is hoped to go live in the next day or so & at which point the link to the old system will be replaced with the new one & the old system deactivated.
A post for the website will be prepared highlighting the change & explaining how to input catches in the new system & how members can now view their own catches.
The opportunity was also taken to create a new membership database to replace the existing one that will have more functionality to the existing one & will be linked to the catch returns system. One immediate benefit is that the system can now be proactive then reactive, for example, next year Somers can be informed of all members whose category changes (for example from member to Senior Citizen).
Initial security & access arrangements for all the management systems hosted on the site, ie credit & debit card processing, sales, membership, & catch returns were discussed & agreed.
There were two matters raised by members during Any Other Competent Business.
It was suggested that the presentation of trophies should be the last item on the agenda. This was noted for further discussion.
It was suggested that the minute of the previous AGM should be circulated prior to the meeting & not read out. It was agreed that it was required to be read & suggested that extracts be posted on the website at least two weeks prior to the meeting.
The Committee approved no changes except Loirston, new charge £15

An email dated 15 January was received from the Dee District Salmon Fishery Board enclosing an invitation to the Dee Opening Ceremony on 1st February at Milton of Crathes. The Secretary confirmed he circulated it to all Committee members with email addresses. See link: http://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2477.0 The President also confirmed that Billy has accepted complimentary membership of the Association. A link to a promotion for a new whisky brand, Dalmore Dee Dram that was launched at the event will also be placed on the website (www.deedram.com) Maintenance The contractors work has mainly been confined to the workshop. However some time was spent preparing for the AGM, ie the sound equipment. Also some time was spent assisting with circulating the diaries. Methlick: • The contractor & a volunteer have tied back the bridge over the Little Water. Ardlethen: • Following the last flood, the highest recorded since 1983, we had to remove debris off all the main bridges & reinstate the pathway down to the wooden footbridge. This was done by the contractor, Works Convenor, & a volunteer. It was accepted that more content for the site needed to come forward from Committee members. Induction meetings Induction meetings have now commenced. MacMillan Cancer charity A Committee member advised he had made £621.50 for the MacMillan Cancer charity see link: http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx, as a result of selling flies passed to him that were entered in the Fly & Fly-Tying magazines monthly competition. He was congratulated for his efforts. Diaries The Secretary confirmed the diaries were available from Somers from 9 am 29 January & that only 3 members had been in on the 28th to renew their subscriptions. |
