ADAA SANA Success!!(21 August)
Congratulations to Kenny Riddell and Ernie MacKay who lifted the SANA Open Pairs title for 2007 with Ernie in 3rd place as an individual. On a reasonably tough day with bright sunshine to contend with the two ADAA anglers, fishing two different areas of Lake of Menteith, successfully boated their 6-fish limits and ended up almost 7lbs ahead of their nearest rivals. Kenny and Ernie's twelve fish weighed a hefty 32lb 13oz.
This is the first time the Association has lifted one of the national SANA Open trophies. Well Done!!

Regarding the above the following advice has just been received from Aberdeen City Council

As a precautionary measure we have been advised by the Consultant in Public Health Medicine in Aberdeen that anglers should not consume fish from the Loch . In addition the liver and gut from fish caught should not be fed to pets. Once we have received more advice we will of course advise you further" We will, of course keep you advised of any further information as it comes to hand.

Disciplinary Issues (relocated 13 May))
Following a report to the ADAA Committee by the Don River Superintendent earlier this year a member of the Association has been suspended for the illegal retention of a kelt contrary to the Association rules and statute. Members are reminded to familiarise themselves with the tell tale signs of a kelt, details are on this site, together with current angling legislation regarding this issue, the onus is on individual anglers in this regard not the Association. In another disciplinary matter it came to the Committees attention that a member used an alternative address to gain membership of the Association contrary to the Association’s rules. Following investigation this was found to be proved and the individual concerned is no longer a member.

ADAA Watchers Wanted! (relocated 12 April)
Although the analysis of this years ADAA questionnaire is not complete it is clear two of the issues members are concerned about is that of fishing etiquette and the enforcement of our rules. To that end the Committee would welcome approaches from ADAA members who wish to be considered as "watchers"for our various waters to assist our existing Conveners. The duties are not onerous and comprise:
-
Checking fishing permits
-
encouraging good angling etiquette
-
reporting maintenance issues to Conveners
-
liaison with river bailiffs
-
auditing and reporting catch returns
You would be issued with appropriate identification and authority and would be rewarded with the gratitude of your fellow members!
If you wish to be considered as a watcher please use the link below to express your interest providing your name, member number, telephone number and the water you would prefer to be a watcher on or ask any questions. Thanks.
